13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness, how will it become salty again? It’s good for nothing except to be thrown away and trampled under people’s feet.
14 You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.

36 “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself
40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

5 But anyone who needs wisdom should ask God, whose very nature is to give to everyone without a second thought, without keeping score. Wisdom will certainly be given to those who ask.
6 Whoever asks shouldn’t hesitate. They should ask in faith, without doubting. Whoever doubts is like the surf of the sea, tossed and turned by the wind.
7 People like that should never imagine that they will receive anything from the Lord.
8 They are double-minded, unstable in all their ways.

First of all, then, I ask that requests, prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be made for all people.
2 Pray for kings and everyone who is in authority so that we can live a quiet and peaceful life in complete godliness and dignity. 3 This is right and it pleases God our savior,
4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
